Siva Kumar for Board of Education at Bloomfield Hills Schools
Helping to enable a world of possibilities for our young minds at BHS

Hope Is Where the Heart Is

About me

Hi everyone, my name is Siva Kumar and I'm running for a seat on the non-partisan Board of Education at Bloomfield Hills Schools. I'm driven by a simple goal; to do my part in making BHS a better and more inclusive place for all, regardless of income, gender, race or orientation.

Our children were fortunate to attend and graduate from the Bloomfield Hills Schools district. They both now attend college at the University of Michigan.

I'm a Senior Director at DWH Corp., a strategy and turnaround consulting firm and I also serve as a lead advisor to an electric vehicle startup in Detroit. I have a background in Finance, Operations and Strategy, with over 30 years of leadership experience at companies including Meritor, Ford and Tenneco, where I successfully managed large projects and built up businesses. I've worked with boards over the years to effectively manage the interests of multiple stakeholders.

I have a Master's degree in Engineering from Wayne State University and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

I pledge to put my skills in finance and strategy, and my skills at driving accountability, alignment and improved communication to good use on the BHS Board of Education. Thank you for your vote on November 3rd, 2020!
Why I'm running

I'm running because I'm ready to give back to the BHS community. My wife and I have been fortunate that our children received an outstanding education as students in Bloomfield Hills Schools.

This is a great school district with dedicated teachers and staff but there are areas of concern like student achievement, where I see wide gaps in performance which I would like to see addressed.

I pledge to put my skills in finance and strategy, and my skills at driving accountability, alignment and improved communication to good use on the BHS Board of Education.
